Boots

I cannot think of a more iconic shoe, than the boot for fall and winter. For early fall, boots with dresses and skirts work for the season. When it begins to be a little colder, I wear skinny jeans tucked in with boots. Once full on winter hits, layering wool and boot socks keep my feet warm with any outfit. I especially love wearing fleece lined leggings to keep warm.

Riding Boots

My go to brand for riding boots is Frye. I have purchased other brands, including cheaper options, but these boots last and can withstand several seasons. I typically take my boots to be polished or resoled after the season to keep them in top shape. I started out with the Paige boots and eventually expanded my collection to include the black Melissa Button and this year the cognac Melissa Button back zip. I could not be happier with my boots and typically wear these everyday starting in October until March.

Rain Boots

Even though I love my Frye’s, I cannot wear them in snow or layers of fall leaves. During inclement weather, I wear my Hunter rain boots. I purchased the boots with the adjustable back buckle, this gives me more room to add boot socks to keep warm. Through rain or snow, these boots have been a staple in my wardrobe for the past few years. I even wore these on a ski trip to colorado, with boot socks of course to keep me toasty! I also use these boots for decoration in my apartment. The dark green color is perfect for Christmas decor!

Favorite Weekender Bags

Short trips are always the hardest to pack for. I have been doing a lot of traveling lately and have been loving my J.McLaughlin weekender bag. I invested in this bag when I decided it was time to purchase some “grown up” luggage. That Vera Bradley duffle from my college days was starting to look a little young for me to carry on business trips.

I am typically an efficient packer, I try to pack similar colored outfits to minimize the amount of clothing I bring. This is the perfect bag for a weekend trip and I love the monogram. I can usually fit all of my items for a 3-4 day trip in this bag. With the holidays coming up, it is the perfect time to invest in a quality weekender bag.

I rounded up my favorite weekender bags for all of your travels:

Tips to Not Become Overwhelmed this Holiday Season

It happens every year, I feel like I am ready for the holiday madness, but I become overwhelmed with stress. This year, I decided I would take the time to enjoy the season and not feel busy by preparing early. After all, the holidays are meant for enjoying time with family and friends not stressing over silly hostess gifts.DSC_0194

Tips to Not Become Overwhelmed this Holiday Season

1. Put the tree up early and take it down late. I put up my tree the second week of November and boom it is done. Even though I want to enjoy the season of Thanksgiving without Christmas intruding, this makes my life a lot easier. I typically take my tree down after New Years when I am exhausted from the holidays and just want to stay in. Also, my grandmother always said it was bad luck to take down your tree before the new year, this to me is permission to procrastinate.

2. Address Christmas cards in November. I ordered my Christmas cards through Tiny Prints beginning of November. I then went ahead and addressed them. I will wait until a more appropriate date to send out, but this way its done and I can worry about other pressing matters.

3. Purchase hostess gifts now. I know I will be attending a few holiday parties this year. I purchased a few generic hostess gifts and keep them wrapped and ready for when I attend a party. This saves me time and I do not have to scramble at the last minute to find the perfect bottle of wine.

4. Set a date for holiday parties with friends such as friendsgiving ahead of time. Since everyone is so busy during this season, my friends and I planned out friendsgiving the first week of November. The date is set and we do not have to worry about other obligations not allowing time to celebrate with friends. I created a calendar category on my iCal that is for the holidays so I do not miss any important events.

5. Start Christmas shopping early. I began shopping in October when I would see things on sale or something I knew a friend would love. I hate buying a gift just because I need one and not buying something I know the recipient will love. For any last gifts I finish up on cyper Monday. I do not fair well with long lines and being patient in stores for black Friday. This takes a lot of stress out of holiday shopping and allows for thoughtful gifts.

With these tips, you will be kicked back enjoying Christmas movies while sipping on eggnog instead of feeling stressed over the holidays.

Do you become overwhelmed during the holidays? If so, what helps you relieve that stress?

Girl’s Night in Leather

Who doesn’t love a fun girl’s night? This is my go to dress for Fall/Winter for girl’s night. This dress can easily be worn with tights and a cardigan or tissue turtleneck for colder weather. I wore a fun statement necklace, booties, and a pink lip to accent this look. IMG_3181IMG_3214IMG_3263IMG_3188IMG_3209IMG_3219IMG_3283

Thanksgiving Table Inspiration

It is my favorite time of year, I love Thanksgiving. It is one of the only holidays where gifts are not exchanged. We actually take time to be with friends and family and just be thankful. With Thanksgiving only a week away, I have been researching table decor. My family always has Thanksgiving at our farm in Tennessee. The rustic setting makes the day even more special. Last year, I made these calligraphy “I am thankful” placemats for each place setting. My mom and I typically handle the decor and cooking for our family. This year I am loving these rich textures and whimsical plates!

How to Put Together an Apple Cider Bar Cart

I finally received my Social Society bar cart and I could not love it more. I have been dreaming of different set ups for fall for my bar cart even before I purchased it. I put together an apple cider bar cart that is perfect for hosting friendsgiving or thanksgiving. This easy set up will be visited by all of your guests at your next get together. I decorated my cart with a West Elm faux deer head adored with a Pottery Barn fall wreath, a Pier One cake stand (currently on sale!) to hold the liquor, Oh My Deer! print, my Hunter boots, C.Wonder napkins (sold out), and of course a mum.

For an apple cider bar cart you will need:

  • Coffee Mugs
  • Paper Straws
  • Cocktail Napkins
  • Hot & Cold Apple Cider
  • Marshmallows
  • Caramels
  • Liquor (Goldschlager, Bourbon, Whiskey Cream, etc)
  • Whipped Cream
  • Cinnamon Sticks

Encourage your guests to mix and match with different liquors in their apple cider. I personally enjoy Goldschlagar, marshmallows, and a cinnamon stick in mine.

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Thanksgiving dinner is always a difficult occasion for choosing outfits. I want to be comfortable, but also want to wear something nice. My family typically dresses in formal or semi formal outfits for dinner but then immediately changes in sweatpants after. For this year, I am leaning towards the red midi skirt with a chambray shirt. I chose three of my favorite Thanksgiving looks for different types of dinners from formal to causal.

Formal Thanksgiving Dinner

Pink Embellished Top, Pixie Pants, and Wedges

Semi Formal Thanksgiving Dinner

Chambray Shirt, Midi Skirt, and Scarf

Causal Thanksgiving

White Shirt, Jeans, and Cat Flats
